Cangjie, the author of Chinese characters, created Chinese characters in Shouguang. Jia Sixie, the writer of Qi Min Yao Shu, which is the first great agriculture works in the world, was born in Shouguang. Since Chinese Reform and Opening Up, Shouguang has great changed. In 2006,the GDP was 26.8 billion RMB and the total financial revenue 2.46 billion RMB, among the revenue, the local financial revenue was 1.27 billion RMB and per capita net income of the peasants reached 5,936 RMB; Shouguang has been listed among the 100 top countries (cities) in China for seven times at a stretch. Shouguang is the 41st in 2001 and Shouguang is ranked on the 25th in the Sixth 100 top Counties with Territory Economy Basic Competitive Power.
